IPL 2025 Dhoni powers CSK to crucial win over LSG

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have finally ended their losing streak, securing their second win of the season after five consecutive losses. In a crucial match against Lucknow Super Giants, CSK chased down the target of 167 runs in the final over. MS Dhoni played a key role in the win with a brilliant unbeaten knock of 26 runs off just 11 balls, including four boundaries and a six. Shivam Dube also contributed significantly, scoring an unbeaten 43 off 37 balls with two sixes and three fours. Rachin Ravindra and Sheikh Rasheed gave Chennai a solid start with scores of 37 and 27 respectively.

Dhoni walked in to bat in the 15th over after Digvijay Rathore dismissed Shankar, leaving CSK at 111 for 5. With Shivam Dube struggling at the crease, Dhoni had to attack from the start. He made his intentions clear by hitting back-to-back boundaries off Avesh Khan's fifth and sixth deliveries. In the 17th over, Dhoni smashed a stunning six on the final ball, shifting the momentum towards CSK. Though Avesh bowled a tight 18th over conceding only 7 runs, Dhoni still managed to find a boundary. Dube followed it up with a four and a six in the 19th over, and Dhoni capped it off with another boundary. Dube sealed the win with a final four, taking CSK over the line.

Lucknow Super Giants Fall Short

Batting first, Lucknow Super Gi⁸ants posted a total of 166 runs. Opener Markram managed only 6, while Nicholas Pooran could score just 8. Mitchell Marsh contributed 30 runs, but it was skipper Rishabh Pant who stood out with a gritty 63. Ayush Badoni chipped in with 22 runs. Despite their efforts, the team couldn’t push beyond 166. For Chennai, Matheesha Pathirana and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each, while Anshul Kamboj and Khaleel Ahmed picked one apiece. Although Noor Ahmad didn’t claim a wicket, he was highly economical, conceding just 13 runs in his 4 overs. MS Dhoni was deservedly awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding batting and sharp wicketkeeping.
