IPL2025 : Narine powers KKR to crucial win over Delhi Capitals

 


Match 48 of IPL 2025 was played between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In this encounter, Kolkata emerged victorious by 14 runs, handing Delhi yet another defeat on their home ground. With this win, KKR kept their playoff hopes alive. The star of the match was Sunil Narine, who delivered an exceptional all-round performance with both bat and ball.

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel won the toss and opted to bowl first, but KKR's batsmen quickly proved that decision wrong. Openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sunil Narine gave Kolkata a blistering start, adding 48 runs in the first three overs. Ajinkya Rahane then carried the innings forward, followed by impressive contributions from Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rinku Singh, who shared a crucial half-century partnership to take KKR past the 200-run mark.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi was KKR’s top scorer with 44 runs, while Rinku Singh added 36. Earlier, Gurbaz and Narine scored 26 and 27 runs respectively, and captain Rahane also chipped in with 26 runs. For Delhi, Mitchell Starc took the most wickets with 3, while Vipraj Nigam and Axar Patel claimed 2 each. Dushmantha Chameera managed to pick up one wicket.

Chasing a target of 205, Delhi Capitals got off to a disastrous start, losing their first wicket with just 4 runs on the board. Karun Nair and KL Rahul also failed to make an impact. However, Faf du Plessis and captain Axar Patel fought back with gritty innings. Du Plessis scored 62 runs off 45 balls, and Axar contributed a quickfire 43 off just 23 deliveries. Unfortunately for Delhi, the rest of the batting lineup collapsed, and they could only manage 190 for 9 in their 20 overs.

Sunil Narine was also the standout performer with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs in his 4 overs. Varun Chakaravarthy picked up 2 wickets, while Vaibhav Arora, Andre Russell, and Anukul Roy took one wicket each.
