CWC2023: Australia ride on Zampa brilliance to knock over England out of World cup

 




Adam Zampa put on a brilliant performance with the ball & also with the  bat to help Australia overcome a stern challenge from England  in the World cup 2023.

This World Cup is not going well for England.  They also lost to Australia in Ahmedabad.  England had to leave the field after losing six out of seven matches in this competition.  The last world champions had to leave the World Cup with the loss to Australia.  However, compared to other matches, England fought more in this match.  


 England captain Buttler won the toss and decided to bowl first in Ahmedabad.  Australia did not start well.  Two openers David Warner (15)  and Travis Head (11)  did not get many runs with Woakes picking up early wickets .  Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne led the team's revival .  Smith scored 44 runs and was looking good .  Labuschagne scored 71 runs playing some dazzling shots and looked good for a hundred but was lbw to a sharp delivery from Mark Wood 


 Australia lost a few wickets in the middle overs and came under pressure.  Cameron Green (47)  and Marcus Stoinis (35) pulled the team from another pressure situation  as both played impressive strokes . In the end, Adam Zampa scored a breezy 29 runs off 19 balls when Australia looked like not progressing much beyond 250  .  However even after that, Australia could not play full 50 overs.  They were all out for 286 with three balls to spare.


For England Woakes bowled well taking 4 wickets while 2 wickets each were shared by Wood and Rashid.






 In response, England did not start well when they came to bat.  Jonny Bairstow returned  for no runs caught down leg side by Inglis off Starc's first ball .  Other opener David Malan scored 50 runs but Joe Root failed again getting caught behind off Starc for 13 , the out given through a review . 


 Although unable to play well  against India, Ben Stokes fought a bit against Australia.  Buttler is out for 1 run caught in the deep off an impressive Zampa which was a crucial blow to England .  Moeen Ali accompanied Stokes.  Seeing the batting of the two, it seemed at one time that England could win the match. Stokes was gradually turning it on with some crunching boundaries but finally was dismissed by Zampa for 64. Soon after England lost Livingstone (2) brilliantly caught by substitute  Abbott off Cummins and then Moeen after looking good got out for 42 runs, England suffered continuous  big blows .


 Chris Woakes (32)  was trying hard  towards the end along with Willey (15) and Rashid (20) as they frustrated Australian bowlers .  But England could not play 50 overs due to fall of  successive wickets.  They were all out for 253 runs in 48.1 overs.  They were out of the World Cup after losing the match by 33 runs.


The Australian 3 quicks took 2 wickets each and Zampa for his 3/21 and 29 runs in 19 balls won the player of the match as Australia now with 10 points have moved closer to the semis .

Red alert of more heavy rains in Maharashtra, closures announced in schools, colleges in some districts

  It is raining continuously in many districts of Maharashtra.  The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for 4 districts, expressing the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the state today i.e. on Thursday.  Keeping this in mind, a holiday has been declared today (July 27) for schools and colleges in Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur districts.  Orange alert of rain has been issued in Raigarh district.  In such a situation, the district administration will take a decision on the basis of the situation with Raigad district.  On the other hand, July 27 has been declared a holiday for all government, private schools, all colleges, all ashram schools, business and training centers within Panvel Municipal Corporation limits.  The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai as well as Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur.  In such a situation, keeping in view the possibility of heavy rains, school students of class I to 12 of all medium

Heavy rains totally disrupts train services in Mumbai area, CM orders early closure of Govt Offices

  Due to heavy rains in Maharashtra, the speed of Mumbai local has slowed down.  Many trains have been cancelled and diverted. Due to heavy rains in Thane district adjacent to Mumbai, the track changing point on the Kalyan-Kasara route was damaged, due to which train services on this route were stopped on Wednesday afternoon.  A senior railway official gave this information.  The Central Railway also informed that it has diverted some mail and express trains on Diva-Panvel-Karjat route and Daund-Manmad route, besides terminating some trains between Mumbai and Pune.   Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday ordered that the government offices in Mumbai and the neighboring region should be closed early.
