Video : Indian PM flies Tejas fighter for 45 minutes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi  on Thursday flew in the indigenous Tejas fighter jet in Karnataka's capital Bengaluru.  PM Modi's total sortie in Tejas aircraft lasted for 45 minutes.  That is, PM Modi flew in the light fighter aircraft Tejas for 45 minutes and during this time, while flying in the sky, he himself operated all the controls for some time.  After flying in Tejas fighter plane, PM Modi said that he successfully flew Tejas and he is proud of it.  Not only this, he also visited HAL i.e. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited facility located in Bengaluru.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared the pictures of the flight & conveyed his  heartiest congratulations to the Indian Air Force, DRDO and HAL as well as all Indians.' He said in another post, 'Successfully completed the flight on Tejas.  This experience was incredibly enriching, which significantly enhanced my confidence in the indigenous capabilities of our country and instilled in me a sense of renewed pride and optimism about our national potential.

It is noteworthy that Tejas is a light and multi-role jet fighter aircraft being developed by India.  It is a multi-role light combat aircraft with one seat and one jet engine developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.  It is a tailless, compound-delta wing aircraft.

In fact, the Indian Air Force has recently issued a tender to state-owned HAL for the purchase of 12 advanced Su-30MKI fighter aircraft.  News agency ANI had earlier quoted defence sources as saying that a tender has recently been issued to HAL to purchase 12 Su-30MKI fighter aircraft, to be manufactured by HAL in India in partnership with Russian original equipment manufacturers.    He had said that the public sector company is expected to respond to the tender with details of the project along with other details by next month.
