Nitto ATP tennis : Djokovic beats Hurkacz & assisted by Sinner win to reach semis

 



The Nitto ATP finals is hotting up with  Novak Djokovic hoping for a semis spot beat a big serving Hubert Hurkacz in 3 sets . The first set went with serves till Djokovic broke away in the tie break with a thumping 7-1 win to take the first set . 


However Djokovic was broken midway into the second set as Hurkacz managed to restore parity in the match winning the set 6-4  .  The big serving pole who hit 24 aces in this match  finally ran out of steam  in set 3 as Djokovic broke him twice to win the set 6-1 and the match  7-6 , 4-6 , 6-1 .


Djokovic's win helped Sinner to reach the semis but Djokovic himself needed a win for Sinner over Rune to reach the semis. 


That did happen but after a tightly contested 3 setter between Sinner & Rune .


Italian  Sinner  , who is in great form in the last couple of months won the first set by 6-2 but was subject to a great fightback by Rune in set 2 as both players played sparkling tennis .


Sinner seemingly had a side strain late in the second set which was won by Rune by 7-5 to restore parity .


The third set was another tightly contested phase but Sinner got the required opening to seal it 6-4 and also took Djokovic into the semis along with him & himself maintaining an all win record in the group stage of the green group .


Two crucial matches will now be played in the Red group with Alcaraz facing  his conqueror Medvedev at US Open and Zverev facing Rublev .  After these two matches the semis lineup will be finalized.

Red alert of more heavy rains in Maharashtra, closures announced in schools, colleges in some districts

  It is raining continuously in many districts of Maharashtra.  The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for 4 districts, expressing the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the state today i.e. on Thursday.  Keeping this in mind, a holiday has been declared today (July 27) for schools and colleges in Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur districts.  Orange alert of rain has been issued in Raigarh district.  In such a situation, the district administration will take a decision on the basis of the situation with Raigad district.  On the other hand, July 27 has been declared a holiday for all government, private schools, all colleges, all ashram schools, business and training centers within Panvel Municipal Corporation limits.  The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai as well as Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur.  In such a situation, keeping in view the possibility of heavy rains, school students of class I to 12 of all medium

Heavy rains totally disrupts train services in Mumbai area, CM orders early closure of Govt Offices

  Due to heavy rains in Maharashtra, the speed of Mumbai local has slowed down.  Many trains have been cancelled and diverted. Due to heavy rains in Thane district adjacent to Mumbai, the track changing point on the Kalyan-Kasara route was damaged, due to which train services on this route were stopped on Wednesday afternoon.  A senior railway official gave this information.  The Central Railway also informed that it has diverted some mail and express trains on Diva-Panvel-Karjat route and Daund-Manmad route, besides terminating some trains between Mumbai and Pune.   Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday ordered that the government offices in Mumbai and the neighboring region should be closed early.
