Nitto ATP tennis : Alcaraz bounces back with win over Rublev , Medvedev beats Zverev






Carlos Alcaraz  after loss in his first match has bounced back to beat Andrey Rublev in straight sets by 7-5 , 6-2  and has now kept his semi final hopes alive .

Alcaraz stopped a 3 match losing streak with a much improved display  holding his serves with ease with strong baseline play and cracking winners.  Showing more aggression he broke Rublev in the 11th game of 1st set and held his serve to go ahead . 

Alcaraz stepped up his game in the 2nd set and allowed Rublev no chance to come back wrapping up the match in straight sets . 

Meanwhile Daniil Medvedev became the first player to reach the semi finals with a hard fought straight set win over Alexander Zverev  7-6 , 6-4  and thus taking their head to head record at 11-7 in his favour .

The Russian broke early in the first set but Zverev made a strong comeback and finally the set went to the tiebreaker.  Zverev failed to utilise a handsome 4-1 lead and Medvedev staged a great recovery to win the tie breaker 7-5 .

The second set was a tight one before the Russian saved a break point on his own serve and went on to break Zverev to win 6-4 to book the semis spot . 

The fight for the other semis  in this group will be between  Alcaraz & Zverev .
