Salt explosive 100 helps England to beat Windies in 1st T20I

Phil Salt scored an explosive unbeaten century to help England dismantle West Indies in the first T20I

The England team is currently on tour in the West Indies. Although they suffered a 1-2 loss in the One-Day International (ODI) series, England has responded to the setback with a stronger and more aggressive approach. In the first match of the five-game T20 series, England defeated the West Indies convincingly. The West Indies, batting first, posted a respectable total of 182 runs. However, England chased down the target with ease, securing victory in the 17th over with just two wickets down.

The star of England's victory was opener Phil Salt, who played an unbeaten knock of 103 runs off 54 balls. Chasing a target of 183, England got off to a strong start, with Phil Salt and Will Jacks (17) putting up a 73-run partnership in just six overs. Despite a couple of quick setbacks, including the dismissal of Jacks for 17 and captain Jos Buttler for a duck, England maintained control.

After Buttler's departure, Phil Salt and Jacob Bethell ensured that England faced no further setbacks. They stitched an unbeaten partnership of 107 runs to lead England to victory. Bethell also contributed with an unbeaten 56 runs. Salt, who was released by Kolkata Knight Riders, has been in remarkable form for England, scoring 59, 74, and now 103 in his recent T20 outings, marking his third T20 international century. Salt played explosive shots right from the start as the balls kept flying towards the boundary.

Earlier , the West Indies set a target of 183 after scoring 182/9 in their 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran top-scored with 38, while Romario Shepherd and Andre Russell contributed with blistering knocks of 35 not out and 30, respectively and Motie played powerpacked shots in his 33 in 17 balls.

Among England's bowlers, Saqib Mahmood was the standout performer with four wickets, while Adil Rashid took three. After restricting the West Indies to 182, England’s powerful batting, led by Salt and Bethell, saw them comfortably chase down the target in just 16.5 overs. With this win, England now leads the T20 series 1-0.
