Buttler butchers Windies as England lead T20I series 2-0
Jos Buttler roars again. After a lengthy injury layoff , the England T20I captain is back at his brilliant best as he scored an explosive 83 runs in 45 balls to help England script a brilliant win over West Indies in the 2nd T20I and lead the 5 match series 2-0.
Batting first after losing the toss , West Indies struggled to a below par 158/8 in 20 overs. King (1) , Evin Lewis (8) , Pooran (14) , Chase (13) could not get going as the England bowlers looked in control. Finally Rovman Powell (43) held the innings together playing some explosive shots . Romario Shepherds cameo of 12 ball 22 took West Indies to 158. For England Saqib Mahmood , Livingstone and Mousley took 2 wickets each .
England lost last match centurion Phil Salt for 0 to the first ball of the innings caught at short cover off Akeal Hosein. However Buttler joined Jacks and both set about demolishing the hosts . Jacks (38) was the initial aggressor but once Butler found his bearings he was unstoppable and smashed the West Indies bowling all around the ground hitting 6 towering sixes one of which flew out of the ground . Buttler hit a breathtaking 83 in 45 balls in a rollicking 129 run stand with Jacks that virtually sealed the game. Both the batters got out in quick succession but Liam Livingstone (23*) applied the finishing touches as England romped home with 5 overs to spare with Buttler picking up the player of the match award.
