Germany & Netherlands draw latest matches in UEFA nations league

Germany & Netherlands were held to 1-1 draws in the latest round of matches of the  UEFA Nations league

Dominik Szoboszlai salvaged a late 1-1 draw for Hungary against Germany in Budapest on Tuesday, while Wales and Czechia secured automatic promotion to League A on the final night of the league phase.

Germany, who had already secured top spot in Group A3, took the lead in the 76th minute when Felix Nmecha scored his first senior international goal with a close-range finish. However, Szoboszlai denied the visitors victory with a dramatic Panenka penalty deep into stoppage time, ensuring Hungary ended their campaign in third place.

In another Group A3 clash, Bosnia and Herzegovina earned a hard-fought point against the Netherlands thanks to Ermedin Demirović’s opportunistic goal. The Dutch, already through to the quarter-finals, opened the scoring through Brian Brobbey’s header. However, Demirović capitalized on a rebound in the 67th minute, nodding past Mark Flekken to secure Bosnia and Herzegovina’s second point of the campaign, though they finished bottom of the group.

Wales clinched promotion to League A with a spirited comeback victory over Iceland in Cardiff, aided by Türkiye’s defeat to Montenegro. After Andri Gudjohnsen’s early strike put Iceland ahead, Liam Cullen’s quickfire double turned the game around by half-time. Brennan Johnson added a third on the counterattack, and Harry Wilson’s stunning long-range effort sealed a 4-1 triumph for Craig Bellamy’s side.

Czechia also earned promotion to League A by defeating Georgia 2-1 at home, leaving the visitors third in Group B1.

Montenegro, meanwhile, dashed Türkiye’s hopes of retaining top spot in Group B1, as Nikola Krstović’s hat-trick powered them to a 3-1 victory. Türkiye now face the League A/B play-offs.

Finally, Ukraine kept their promotion hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Albania. Early goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko and Roman Yaremchuk proved decisive, as Ukraine advanced to the play-offs for a chance to reach League A.
