Additionally, Mohammad Rizwan has made an impressive start as captain, having been appointed to the role during the Australian tour.
In the third ODI against Australia, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah Afridi delivered exceptional bowling performances. Their impressive bowling restricted the Australian team to just 140 runs. Beyond Naseem and Shaheen, Haris Rauf also bowled brilliantly for Pakistan. Rauf conceded only 24 runs in seven overs and took two significant wickets. Hosts Australia somehow did not look motivated to play in this ODI series . Their senior batters who played the first two games did not show any inclination to stay at the wicket and bat long when the bowling is good . They all went for extravagant shots & lost their wickets which resulted in a big loss in the 2nd ODI for the series to get level . During the 3rd ODI the senior players were excluded to rest them for the upcoming high profile 5 test series vs India and as a result Australia fielded a makeshift team for the deciding 3rd ODI. None of the batters showed the technique or the willingness to bat long and put up a sizable score as many of them again got out to loose shots . Sean Abbott (30) was the top scorer in the Australian innings followed by Mathew Short (22) . The rest was a horror story .
In the ODI series against Australia, Pakistan's batting was equally impressive alongside their bowling. In the third ODI, Abdullah Shafique and Sam Ayub formed a solid opening partnership of 84 runs for the first wicket. Sam Ayub contributed 42 runs off 52 balls, while Shafique scored 37 runs off 53 balls. Additionally, Babar Azam remained unbeaten with 28 runs, and Mohammad Rizwan finished not out with 30 runs, ensuring a comprehensive victory for Pakistan.
