WPL24 : Perry stars again in RCB thrilling win to reach final as MI batters choke

16 runs were needed from 12 balls.  Harmanpreet Kaur was at the crease.  It looked like Mumbai Indians would win the match on a canter .  But that didn't happen.  RCB snatched victory from the face of defeat.  They reached the final of the women's IPL.  Last time champion Mumbai had to leave the field after failing

RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and decided to bat first.  But they did not start well.  Except for Ellyse Perry, none of the top-order batsmen got a run.  Mandhana failed with the bat once again.  She scored 10 runs and Sciver dismissed her . Devine (10) too went cheaply bowled by Mathews. RCB suffered a big blow when Richa Ghosh was out for 14 runs.  They lost 4 wickets for 49 runs.

At one time, it seemed that RCB would not even cross 100 runs.  But Perry was still at the crease.  She took the reins of RCB once again.  Counter-attacking batting.  Perry was accompanied by Georgia Wareham.  Both of them crossed the team's run of 120.  Perry was out for 66 runs. Wareham hit the last ball of the innings for a 6.  RCB scored 135 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs.  Mathews , Sciver & Saika took 2 wickets each for MI

Mumbai's two openers Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Mathews started the run chase.  They were cruising nicely   Mathews got out after 15 runs after hitting a big shot off Shreyanka Patil.  Perry dismissed Yastika for 19 runs.

Harmanpreet batted well in the fight to reach the final.  First she teamed up with Nat Sciver Brunt and then Amelia Kerr.  Sciver Brant scored 23 runs in 18 balls and looked in good nick .  Harmanpreet was not in a hurry as the target was not very high.  Richa left an easy chance to stump her out after 31 runs.  Harmanpreet was dismissed for 33 runs in that same over by Shreyanka.  From there the game turned its head as the Mumbai battters started to choke .

Only 4 runs were scored in the 19th over.  12 runs were needed in the last over.  The Mumbai batters could not get the job done as Asha bowled a tight over and gave away only 7 runs. Kerr was stranded on 27.  Brilliant bowling by the RCB spinners Shreyanka (2 wkts) , Molineaux (1 wkt) & Wareham (1 wk) as well as Perry (1wkt) again.   RCB won a thriller by 5 runs to reach their 1st WPL final where they will meet Delhi Capitals .
