IPL24: Gujarat Titans outplayed subdued Sunrisers , Mohit Sharma shines

Gujarat Titans returned to victory.  They won the first match at home.  The second match had to be lost at Chennai ground.  In the third match, Shubman Gill's team returned to the home ground to win.  Gujarat beat Sunrisers Hyderabad easily by 7 wickets.

Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to bat first.  The two openers Mayank Agarwal and Travis Head got off to a good start.  They were making quick runs using the power play.  Azmatullah Omarzai gave the first blow to Hyderabad.  He dismissed Mayank for 16 runs.  Abhishek Sharma was hitting big shots from the start in this match as well.  Noor Ahmed dismissed Head in the first over after the power play.  Head scored 19 runs and was bowled trying to sweep .  Mohit Sharma gave a big blow to Hyderabad by dismissing Abhishek for a sparkling 29 runs who got sucked in to a slower ball.

Gujarat bowled well in the middle overs.  Umesh Yadav dismisses Aiden Markram (17) .  Heinrich Klaasen was playing well.  Rashid Khan dismissed him after 24 runs as he was bowled .  Shahbaz Ahmed and Abdul Samad took Hyderabad's run past 150.  Shahbaz scored 22 and Samad scored 29 runs.  Washington was bowled out for no score.

In the end, Hyderabad lost 8 wickets and scored 162 runs in 20 overs which looked much below par and well within reach of the hosts .  Mohit is the most successful Gujarat bowler.  He took 3 wickets with 25 runs in 4 overs and used his slower balls excellently.  Omarzai, Umesh, Rashid and Noor took 1 wicket each.

Wriddhiman Saha started playing big shots from the start to chase runs.  He did not give Hyderabad bowlers time to settle down.  Wriddhi was making runs using the power play.  But he could not survive for long.  Shah was dismissed by Shahbaz Ahmed after scoring 25 runs.  Skipper Shubman scored a neat 36 runs.  But he was not seen in his old mood.  The Gujarat captain got out while playing a big shot off Mayank Markande.

Sai Sudarshan and David Miller took responsibility to lead the team to victory.  Sudarshan is Gujarat's most consistent batsman this season.  Miller also looked fluent in this match.  They did not take any risk.    Both ran well and put away the bad balls for 4s or 6s   Sudarshan got out for 45 but Miller survived till the end.  Hyderabad had to pay for not being able to take wickets in the middle overs.  In the end Gujarat won the match by 7 wickets with 5 balls to spare.  Miller remained unbeaten on 44 and Vijay Shankar on 14 runs.  Mohit Sharma for his excellent bowling was the player of the match .
