Matt Henry's heroic 7 wicket haul helped New Zealand to bounce back against Australia on day 2 of the 2nd test at Christchurch . Starting the day at 124/4 Australia advanced till 256 but could not take more than a 94 run lead . At close with a much improved batting performance the hosts reached 134/2 at close .

Nathan Lyon (20) again played a crucial role as a nightwatchman before getting dismissed by Henry who soon had Marsh lbw for 0 . Carey (14) could not fire again as Phillips dismissed him . Labuschagne batted well driving , cutting and flicking confidently and was looking good for a 100 when at 90 his cut shot was brilliantly caught by an acrobatic Glenn Phillips at gully . Starc(28) and Cummins (23) played several bold strokes to take Australia to 256 before they were all out with Henry taking 7/67 in a lion hearted display .

New Zealand did lose Young (1) who was caught behind off Starc but Latham (65 no) and Williamson (51) batted superbly playing with positive mindset and playing pleasing shots till Williamson played on to Cummins . Ravindra (11no) stayed with Latham at close with New Zealand now leading by 40 runs after a great days work
