New Zealand in disarray on day2 of 1st test after Green's masterclass

Australia ruined the condition of the New Zealand team, which performed brilliantly in the last series against South Africa.  In the first match of the two-match Test series, after scoring 383 runs in the first innings, the hosts were bundled out for just 179 runs.  Australia took a huge lead of 204 runs on the basis of first innings and left the Kiwi team far behind in the match.  Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who scored a lot of runs in earlier series , could not even open his account.

The first match of the two-match Test series between Australia and New Zealand is being played in Wellington.  In the second day's play, the New Zealand team collapsed for just 179 runs in the first innings against Australia.  After taking a lead of 204 runs, Australia had scored 13 runs for 2 wickets at the end of the day's play.  New Zealand's batting faltered badly in the first innings.  Seven batsmen of the team could not even reach double figures.

The day started with Australia started the day at 279/9 . They were at the most expected to reach 300. However Green and Hazlewood had other ideas. Whike Hazlewood batted solidly for an invaluable 22 runs , Green after taking some time started to hit out and played several powerful leg side shots including the pull and hoick to increase the scoring rate . Green hit 5 sixes in all as he reached 174 in belligerent style and it was then that Henry dismissed Hazlewood to claim his 5 th wicket but Australia reached 383 and thus got into a great position after a shaky 89/4 at one stage .

New Zealand innings was a tale of horrow shows . Latham (5) timidly played on to Starc  and then disaster struck as Kane Williamson clashed with an advancing Young on mid pitch while taking a run and was run out for 0 . Ravindra was caught at point off Hazlewood for 0 and Young finally departed for 9 caught down leg off Marsh . Mitchell (11) edged Cummins to slip and New Zealand were tottering at 29/5 .

Tom Blundell and Glen Phillips had a crucial stand of 86 as they played attacking cricket before Lyon dismissed Blundell (33) and then Kuggeleijn(0). However Matt Henry (42) came out and played some blistering shots along with Phillips (71) and once the stand was broken the New Zealand innings had a quick ending . Lyon took 4 wickets while Hazlewood took 2 wickets .

With a huge lead of 204 Australia batted again but were jolted as Smith played on to Southee for 0 and Labuschagne (2) unfortunately was caught down leg side as Australia ended a fast moving day 2 at 13/2 but still in a very strong position .
