Gill , Shreyas powers India to 3rd ODI win & series clean sweep over England

In the Ahmedabad ODI, the Indian cricket team secured a dominant victory, clinching the ODI series 3-0 against England. This marks the first time in 14 years that India has whitewashed England in an ODI series. The star of the Ahmedabad ODI was Shubman Gill, who played a brilliant knock of 112 runs.

India’s Commanding Win

As expected, Team India defeated England in Ahmedabad as well. Batting first, India posted a massive total of 356 runs in 50 overs. In response, England crumbled under the pressure of the big chase and was bowled out for just 214 runs, suffering a 142-run defeat. With this win, India completed a clean sweep of the ODI series, having already won the matches in Nagpur and Cuttack in a one-sided manner. It is the first time in 14 years that India has whitewashed England in an ODI series.

Shubman Gill – The Star Performer

Shubman Gill was the standout performer for India, scoring his seventh ODI century. He played a magnificent innings of 112 runs, hitting 14 fours and three sixes. Along with Gill, Shreyas Iyer contributed 78 runs, while Virat Kohli also scored a crucial 52. Kohli’s half-century was his first in ODI cricket after a gap of 451 days.

Every Indian Bowler Contributed

India’s bowling attack performed collectively, with every bowler making an impact. Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Hardik Pandya, and Axar Patel picked up two wickets each, while Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket apiece.

England’s Batting Collapse

England’s defeat was largely due to their underwhelming batting performance. While several top-order batsmen, including Phil Salt, Ben Duckett, Tom Banton, Joe Root, and Harry Brook, got starts, none could convert them into big scores. Banton was the highest scorer among the top five with 38 runs, followed by Duckett (34), Salt (23), Root (24), and Brook (19). Captain Jos Buttler managed only six runs, while Liam Livingstone struggled, scoring just nine runs off 23 balls. England’s poor batting had already cost them the T20I series, where they lost 1-4.
