Yoga : Sukhasana (Easy Pose)- how to perform this excercise

Sukhasana, also known as the "Easy Pose," is a simple seated yoga posture that promotes relaxation and meditation. It is commonly used for breathwork (pranayama), mindfulness, and spiritual practices. The word "Sukhasana" comes from Sanskrit:

  • Sukha = ease, comfort, or happiness
  • Asana = posture or pose

Though it is called "Easy Pose," maintaining it for long periods requires flexibility and mindfulness.

How to Perform Sukhasana

  1. Find a Comfortable Seat: Sit on the floor with legs extended forward.
  2. Cross Your Legs: Bend your knees and cross your legs at the shins, placing each foot under the opposite knee.
  3. Keep Your Spine Straight: Lengthen your spine, ensuring your shoulders are relaxed and your head is aligned.
  4. Rest Your Hands: Place your hands on your knees, palms facing up or down. You can use a mudra (e.g., Gyan Mudra).
  5. Breathe Mindfully: Close your eyes, take deep breaths, and focus on your breathing or meditation.
  6. Adjust if Needed: If your hips feel tight, sit on a cushion or yoga block for better support.

Hold this posture for a few minutes, gradually increasing the duration as comfort allows.
