US Open 2024 : Sinner outplayed Fritz to win 1st ever US Open

 


World number one, Jannik Sinner, who secured his first Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January, delivered a commanding performance of baseline power to become the first Italian man to win the U.S. Open. Sinner triumphed with a 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 victory over American Taylor Fritz in the final on Sunday, September 8, 2024.


Sinner raised his arms in triumph after breaking Fritz to secure the title, as cheers echoed through Arthur Ashe Stadium, despite the hopes of the home crowd for Fritz to end the 21-year U.S. men's Grand Slam drought.


Fritz began the match sluggishly but rallied from 0-2 down to 3-2 in the first set, only for Sinner to break him again, closing out the set. The second set followed  with both players holding serve until Sinner broke Fritz at a crucial moment to clinch the set.


The third set provided some exciting  moments for Fritz. At 3-all, he fired an overhead winner to get to 15-30, punching the air and shouting, "Let’s go!" The crowd rose to their feet, cheering him on. When Fritz followed up with a volley winner to earn a break point, the stadium erupted in excitement. Sinner double-faulted, allowing Fritz to go ahead 4-3.


However, when Fritz served for the set at 5-4, he faltered under pressure, and Sinner broke back to level the score. Sinner then cleverly used a drop shot to draw Fritz forward, before sending a passing shot that Fritz volleyed into the net.


Just 10 minutes later, Sinner completed a decisive four-game streak to claim the victory. As the match concluded, Sinner raised his arms, tilted his head back, and closed his eyes in a moment of triumph.


This victory marked Sinner’s second Grand Slam title of the year.

Manipur violence : Video of brutality relating to women in Manipur goes viral

    Manipur is in the grip of ethnic violence these days, but now tension has spread in the hilly areas of Manipur over a video in which two women are being paraded naked.  According to reports, the video is from May 4 and both the women are from the Kuki community, while the men who are parading the women naked are all from the Meitei community.  Tribal organization Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum has demanded action against the culprits.  According to the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum, the incident took place on May 4 in Kangpokpi district, about 35 km from state capital Imphal.  At the same time, no one has been arrested by the police in this case.  It can be clearly seen in the video that the men are continuously molesting the helpless women who are crying and begging them to leave.  Condemning this heinous act, an ITLF spokesperson demanded that the central and state governments, the National Commission for Women and the National Commission...
