Myanmar struggles to get back to normalcy with death toll rising due to floods

Myanmar is facing a dire situation due to the devastation caused by Cyclone Yagi. The death toll from the severe floods and landslides triggered by Super Typhoon Yagi has risen to 113. Volunteers have begun bringing aid to the affected areas.

Reports indicate that Myanmar was struck by intense storms and flooding following the landfall of Typhoon Yagi. The severe flooding has particularly impacted Mandalay, Bago, and Shan since Wednesday, with numerous villages submerged and many people swept away by the floodwaters. Several villages have been destroyed by landslides, and the extent of the damage is massive. Authorities fear the death toll could increase further.

Continuous rain has led to landslides in many mountainous areas, exacerbating the loss of life. The ongoing disaster has displaced 320,000 people, and 187 relief shelters have been set up across various locations.

Rescue workers are searching for the missing, but heavy rainfall and damaged infrastructure are creating challenging conditions.
