Aus bounce back to win final ODI v Eng & clinch series 3-2 , Head MoS

After two smashing wins over Australia in the last two ODIs to level the series at 2-2 after being 0-2 down , Harry Brook's England looked to have all the momentum for the final ODI at Bristol . Australia had to precautionarily rest their main captain Mitchel Marsh and hence Steve Smith was summoned to lead in the final ODI.  Smith won the toss & with rain forecast later in the game chose to field first .

England riding on the momentum of the last 2 ODIs were off to a blistering start as Phil Salt was firing on all cylinders.  With an array of explosive shots,  Salt plundered 45 runs in just 27 balls including 3 sixes and with able support from Duckett , England raced to 58 in 6.6 overs before Salt was dismissed by Hardie caught at third man.

Soon Jacks went for a duck bowled by Hardie through the gate which brought Brook & Duckett together and they proceeded to dish out an explosive stand of 132 in   just 17 overs . Brook plundered runs off Adam   Zampa in particular as he cut , pulled and smashed  lofted shots in disdain . Duckett by now started to smash boundaries & sixes down the ground . Finally Brook mistimed one to be finally caught off Zampa for an explosive 72 off 52 balls with 7 sixes and this triggered a collapse .

Soom Jamie Smith (6) was bowled through the gate by Maxwell and Livingstone (0) was caught behind off Zampa as England batting slumped . Ben Duckett finally reached his 100 but was soon out to Maxwell for  a brilliant 107. Bethel (13) , Carse failed to break the Aussie stranglehold & were dismissed as partimer  Travis Head took 4 wickets !!.

It  was finally left to Adil Rashid (36) who played a brave innings to get England past the 300 mark . Finally England were 309 all out .  For Australia  , Head took 4 wickets while Zampa, Hardie  & Maxwell took 2 wickets each

Australia were off to a fine start with Head and Short playing  sperb shots . Finally Head departed  for 31 but Short played his customary blistering knock including his breathtaking pull shots till finally he was caught behind off Potts for 58 off 30 balls .

Australia 's fine start allowed Steve Smith and  Josh Inglis to play without taking many risks as Australia was striving to complete 20 overs  with score ahead of England as rain forecast looked grim.

Finally the rains arrived just after 20 overs and it didnt relent . There was no further play possible and Australia were declared winners by the virtue of leading on DLS par score by 46 runs .  Smith (38*) & Inglis (28*) remained unbeaten.

Travis Head for his performances throughout the series was named the player of the series. He was also the player of the match  for his 4 wickets and a quick  31  as opener
