Germany , Netherlands locked 2-2 in high voltage clash in UEFA nations league
The Netherlands and Germany played out an exciting 2-2 draw in their second Nations League Group A3 match, held in Amsterdam. Despite an early lead from Tijjani Reijnders, Julian Nagelsmann's team responded with goals from Deniz Undav and Joshua Kimmich. However, a second-half equalizer from Denzel Dumfries kept both teams level at four points each.
The match began with a fast start from the Netherlands at the Johan Cruyff Arena. Ryan Gravenberch provided a well-timed through ball to Reijnders, who calmly slotted it past Marc-Andre ter Stegen. The home side had opportunities to increase their lead, with Dumfries narrowly missing a header from Xavi Simons' free-kick, and Ter Stegen making a key save from Simons soon after.
Germany capitalized on the Netherlands’ missed chances. Bart Verbruggen saved Florian Wirtz's close-range shot, but Undav was quick to volley in the rebound. Moments later, Nathan Ake was stretchered off after a collision with Kimmich.
As Germany gained momentum, Dumfries made a vital block to deny David Raum. The visitors took the lead just before halftime when Undav set up Kimmich to score from close range after Raum's cross.
The Netherlands came out strong in the second half. Brian Brobbey, assisted by Simons, delivered a pass that Dumfries converted, leveling the match at 2-2 in the 50th minute. Ter Stegen denied a long-range effort from Gravenberch, while Raum missed a headed chance from a promising position.
Adding to the Netherlands’ challenges, Nathan Ake sustained a foot injury and was substituted late in the first half, marking a significant setback for Ronald Koeman’s squad.
