Harry Brook powers England to emphatic DLS win over Aus to keep ODI series alive

A fine century by England captain Harry Brook following his spatkling partnership with an aggressive Phil Jacks brought England a much awaited victory to keep alive the 5 match ODI series after Australia had already won the 1st two odis .

Having to bat first at Chester le Street , tge Aussies  went into the game without Travis Head and Adam Zampa and as it turned out  , their absence in this match  made a difference .

Short (14) after playing some impressive shots again got out for a mediocre  score while Marsh (24) too went early after playing some sparkling shots . Steve Smith (60) anchored the innings well playing some good shots and he got support from Green (42) .

However England bounced back with back to back wickets with  Labuschagne falling for a duck . However Alex Carey proved again that he is in fine touch and played another rescue act knock of 74 studded with some glorious shots and well supported by Maxwell's(30) cameo and then Hardie's (44) sparkling knock followed that propelled Australia to a formidable 304/7 in 50 overs . Archer took 2 wickets but he was expensive

England stuttered at the start with Salt (0) and Duckett (8) both falling to Mitchel Starc.  However Will Jacks and Harry Brook got into a fruitful stand that ultimately proved to be the match winning partnership   . Jacks built his innings well showing maturity and playing some breathtaking shots to score 84  . Brook after a few average scores finally came into his own to score a glorious hundred  and played imperious strokes particularly through the off side . He and Jacks rescued England from 11/2 to 164 before Jacks fell followed by Jamie Smith (7) . However Livingstone came in and hit blistering shots to reach 33 while Brook was batting on 110 when rain halted play and finallly with no chance to resume , England were declared the winners by 46 runs on DLS system.  Australia in their bowling innings looked flat and felt the absence of Zampa . Starc bowled well to get 3 wickets

Brook was adjudged the player of the match as the series scoreline now reads 2-1 .
