Head smashes 50 to power Australia to 28 run win over England in 1st T20I

The T20 series between England and Australia has kicked off with great excitement, as Australia opened the series with a commanding victory. They defeated host England by 28 runs in the first T20 match. Australia's triumph was largely thanks to opener Travis Head, who played a spectacular knock of 59 runs off just 23 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award.

The first T20 match between England and Australia took place in Southampton. England won the toss and opted to bowl first. Jamie Overton, Jacob Bethell, and Jordan Cox made their T20 International debuts for England in this match, but none of the three could make a significant impact on their debut.

Batting first after losing the toss, Australia got off to a blistering start. Openers Travis Head and Matthew Short (41) put up 86 runs in the powerplay. Head played breathtaking shots in his typical aggressive style & launched a fierce onslaught in Sam Curran's powerplay over taking 30 runs !! Finally he was dismissed on the last ball of the sixth over after scoring an electrifying 59 in 22 balls , and shortly after, Matthew Short followed him back to the pavilion after an impressive aggressive knock . Apart from Josh Inglis, who contributed 37 runs, none of the other Australian batters managed to stay at the crease for long. As a result, despite reaching 86 runs without losing a wicket, Australia was bowled out for 179 runs in 19.3 overs, losing their last 10 wickets while adding just 93 runs. Liam Livingstone brought England back in the game in the middle overs with 3/22 . Archer abd Mahmood took 2 wickets each and bowled superbly in death overs to pilot the England resurgence in the game .

England’s bowlers managed to shift the momentum by bowling Australia out, but the English batters failed to capitalize on it. Only Liam Livingstone stood out, scoring 37 runs from 27 balls. Phil Salt, leading the team for the first time, added 20 runs off 12 balls before his big shot was caught at the boundary by Short off Abbott , but none of the other batters could withstand Australia's bowling attack as the Aussies kept taking wickets at regular intervals to suffocate the dangerous England batting lineup . Zampa with 2/20 in 4 overs was the peak of the bowlers while Hazlewood and Abbott took 2 & 3  wickets respectively.
