Carey , bowlers take Australia to 2nd successive match

Australia has secured victory in the second match of the ODI series against England. The World Champion team won the match at Headingley in Leeds by 68 runs. Batting first, Australia was all out for 270 runs in the 45th over. In response, the host team, England, kept losing wickets regularly and was bowled out for 202 runs. With this win, Australia now leads the 5-match series 2-0, marking their 14th consecutive victory in ODIs.

After being invited to bat first, Australia didn’t have the best start and was struggling to even reach 200 runs at one point. Captain Mitchell Marsh was the only top-order batter to score a half-century, making 60 runs off 59 balls. Travis Head, who had played an unbeaten knock of 154 runs in the first ODI to lead Australia to a seven-wicket win, was again looking in great touch having hit a straight six followed by a flicked six over midwicket off Carse  but soon dismissed for 29 by fast bowler Brydon Carse.

The other opener, Matthew Short, also contributed 29 runs. Among the remaining batters, Steve Smith was out for 4 bowled through the gate by Potts , Marnus Labuschagne was out for 19, and Glenn Maxwell for 7. After Australia lost 6 wickets for 161 runs, Alex Carey steadied the innings, pushing the team's total to 270 with a vital knock. Carey scored a superb match rescuing  74 off 67 balls, hitting eight fours and three sixes. For England, Carse took 3 wickets, while Matthew Potts, Adil Rashid, and Jacob Bethell picked up 2 wickets each.

England's batting lineup collapsed completely as the big fast bowlers Starc and Hazlewood made early impact . Jemie Smith was the top scorer with 49 runs. Among the top four, Phil Salt made 12 runs, and Ben Duckett scored 32. Will Jacks couldn't open his account, and captain Harry Brook contributed just 4 runs before Starc yorked  him will a searing full in swinging delivery . Only Jemie Smith showed his abilities as he scored 49 but once he was out , the match was a foregone conclusion  .  For Australia, Mitchell Starc took three wickets, while Hazlewood, Hardy, and Maxwell each took two wickets.

Alex Carey for his game rescuing 74 got the player of the match.
