IPL2026 : SRH unleashes 2 pace sensations as Rajasthan & young Vaibhav falters

In the batting paradise of Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals endured a harsh reality check as their 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi finally tasted failure, coinciding with the team’s first defeat in IPL 2026. Chasing a daunting target of 216 set by Sunrisers Hyderabad on their home turf, Rajasthan crumbled under pressure and were bundled out for a modest 159, handing Hyderabad a commanding 57-run victory.

The chase unraveled dramatically. After Suryavanshi’s (0) early departure caught off miscued pull , the batting lineup collapsed like a house of cards. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Lhuan-dre Pretorius, and captain Riyan Parag all fell in quick succession with a few loose shots . Jurel and Pretorius failed to open their accounts, and at one stage, Rajasthan were reeling at a disastrous 9 for 5. A fighting  resistance from Ravindra Jadeja (45)  and a dangerous Donovan Ferreira (69)  brought some semblance of stability with a valiant 112 run stand , but the damage had already been done, and the target remained well out of reach despite some late flurry of boundaries by Tushar Deshpande (25) .

Suryavanshi, who has been the talk of the tournament, had elevated powerplay hitting to an extraordinary level alongside Jaiswal. The teenage sensation had stunned the cricketing world with fearless strokeplay, dismantling elite bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Hazlewood with astonishing ease. With 200 runs in four matches at a staggering strike rate of 267, he had even donned the Orange Cap. His whirlwind 78 off just 26 balls against Virat Kohli’s side had marked him as a generational talent. However, Monday’s failure served as a timely reminder that the journey has only just begun for India’s newest cricketing star.

Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad overcame a shaky start in front of an emotionally charged home crowd. Explosive openers Abhishek Sharma (0) and Travis Head (18) departed early - Abhishek to 1st ball of the match , but captain Ishan Kishan continued his dream run of form. The stylish left-hander produced a scintillating 91 off just 44 balls, laced with six towering sixes and four crisp boundaries. Heinrich Klaasen provided solid support with a fluent 40, while Nitish Reddy and Salil Arora added valuable late sparkling contributions of 28 and 24 respectively. It was a complete team effort that powered Hyderabad to an imposing 216 at the end of 20 overs.

In the end, it was Hyderabad’s all-round brilliance and Rajasthan’s brittle response that defined the contest—along with a gentle reminder that even the brightest young stars must endure the occasional fall.
