Stephen Fleming, the former New Zealand cricketer, was born on April 1, 1973. A left handed graceful batter , he served as New Zealand captain for several years in a successful stint .


Career Highlights:


1. Test Cricket: Fleming made his Test debut for New Zealand in 1994 against India. He went on to become one of New Zealand's most successful Test captains, leading the team from 1997 to 2006. Fleming scored 7,172 runs in 111 Test matches at an average of 40.06, including 9 centuries and 46 half-centuries.


2. One Day Internationals (ODIs): Fleming represented New Zealand in 280 ODIs, scoring 8,007 runs at an average of 32.40 with 8 centuries. He was a key figure in New Zealand's middle order and served as the captain of the ODI team as well.


3. Leadership: Fleming is widely regarded as one of the finest captains in New Zealand cricket history. Under his leadership, New Zealand achieved significant success in both Test and ODI cricket, including notable victories against top cricketing nations.


4. Tactician: Fleming was known for his astute cricketing brain and tactical acumen. He was often praised for his ability to read the game and make strategic decisions, both as a captain and as a player.


5. Fielding: Fleming was an exceptional fielder, particularly in the slip cordon. His safe hands and sharp reflexes made him a valuable asset in the field, contributing to numerous dismissals for the New Zealand team.
