IPL2026 ; Rinku Singh’s Heroics Power KKR to Super Over Win Against LSG

Rinku Singh once again emerged as Kolkata Knight Riders’ saviour, delivering a match-winning knock to guide his team to a dramatic Super Over victory against Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. Continuing his fine form from the previous game, Rinku smashed an unbeaten 83 off 51 balls, standing tall amid a disappointing batting display from the rest of the lineup.

KKR, batting first, managed only 155 in their allotted 20 overs—a total that reflected their struggles with the bat. Apart from Rinku, none of the batters could make a meaningful contribution. Captain Ajinkya Rahane endured another poor outing, while players like Tim Seifert and Rovman Powell failed to get going. Cameron Green showed some intent with a brisk 34 off 21 balls, but his dismissal halted any momentum. Mohsin Khan wreaked havoc with the ball, picking up 5 wickets for just 23 runs and leaving KKR reeling at one stage.

At 31 for 4, KKR looked in deep trouble before Rinku launched a counterattack. His innings gained explosive momentum in the final over, where he hammered Digvesh Rathi for four sixes, collecting 26 runs. His knock, laced with seven boundaries and five sixes, propelled KKR to a respectable total.

In response, LSG’s chase began on a shaky note with Mitchell Marsh falling early. Aiden Markram scored 37 but at a sluggish pace, while captain Rishabh Pant contributed 42 off 38 balls to steady the innings. Ayush Badoni added 24, and at one point, LSG appeared to be cruising toward victory.

However, KKR’s bowlers staged a strong comeback. Varun Chakravarthy and Vaibhav Arora led a disciplined bowling effort, triggering a late collapse as LSG lost wickets in quick succession. Himmat Simgh came out as an impact sub and played a useful knock of 19 but got out in final over. With 7 needed from 2 ,Shami missed the penultimate ball but hit a huge straight six over long off to tie on last ball The match eventually ended in a tie, with both teams finishing at 155 after 20 overs.

In the Super Over, KKR held their nerve to clinch the win with Narine getting Pooran bowled and Markram caught in the deep., In reply Rinku smacked first ball for 4 to get the win , KKR only got their second victory of what has otherwise been a difficult campaign. The result also helped them move off the bottom of the points table.

The match was not short on drama, featuring everything from a rare “obstructing the field” dismissal of Angkrish Raghuvanshi to a nail-biting finish that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
