Allan Knott was born on April 9, 1946. He was an English cricketer, primarily known for his role as a wicketkeeper of high class . Here are some career highlights:


1. **Test Career**: Knott played 95 Test matches for England between 1967 and 1981.  Being a very effective lower order batter Knott scored 4389 tests runs at 32 average with 5 centuries .He effected 250 catches & 19 stumpings with his razor sharp reflexes as a keeper . 

  

2. **County Cricket**: He represented Kent County Cricket Club for the majority of his career, from 1964 to 1985. Scored  18000 plus first class runs & effected 1300 plus dismissals . 


3. **Wicketkeeping Skills**: Knott was renowned for his exceptional wicketkeeping skills, regarded by many as one of the finest wicketkeepers of all time.


4. **Batting Contributions**: He was also a handy lower-order batsman, scoring crucial runs for England in various Test matches.


5. **Achievements**: Knott played a key role in England's Ashes victories in 1970-71 and 1977.


6. **Records**: At the time of his retirement, Knott held the record for the most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in Test cricket.
