#IPL2026 : KKR Hit Rock Bottom as CSK Cruise to Comfortable 32-Run Victory

There is no doubt left anymore. If any team truly deserves the bottom spot in the IPL points table, it is Kolkata Knight Riders. On Tuesday, Ajinkya Rahane’s side produced a clueless and dismal performance, proving they have learned nothing from their previous three defeats. In batting, bowling, and captaincy, KKR lagged behind the rest of the competition. Having already lost three matches earlier in the season, the Knights added another to that list with a humiliating 32-run defeat against Chennai Super Kings.

A battered KKR won the toss and, in a somewhat surprising move, chose to field first—despite their lack of confidence. Their struggles in the powerplay have been evident throughout the season, and Tuesday was no different. CSK raced to 72 runs in the first six overs, losing just two wickets. The momentum continued even after the powerplay, with Chennai scoring at nearly 10 runs per over until the 16th over. KKR managed to pull things back slightly at the death, restricting CSK to 192 for 5.

Sanju Samson led the charge for Chennai with a fluent 48, while Ayush Mhatre (38) and Dewald Brevis (41) played explosive knocks. Sunil Narine was once again impressive with the ball, conceding just 21 runs and picking up a wicket.

Chasing 193 on a slow Chepauk pitch was always going to be a challenge, and KKR’s start made it even worse. Sunil Narine was promoted to open, but regular opener Finn Allen failed yet again, dismissed for just 1. Narine managed 24 off 17 balls, but it was far from his usual impact. Captain Ajinkya Rahane scored 28 off 22 balls, while Raghuvanshi added 27 off 19.

The middle order collapsed disappointingly. Vice-captain Rinku Singh scored just 6 off 12 balls before throwing his wicket away, and Cameron Green, bought for a hefty ₹25 crore, was bowled off the very first ball he faced—effectively ending KKR’s hopes.

Rovman Powell (31*)and Ramandeep Singh(35) tried to restore some pride towards the end, but it was merely a face-saving effort rather than a genuine chase. KKR were eventually bowled out for 160, handing CSK a comfortable 32-run win. Noor Ahmed who took 3/21 in KKR innings was the player of the match
