IPL2026 : Gill, Buttler, Prasidh Shine as Gujarat Titans Beat LSG Comfortably

Just a few days ago at Eden Gardens, Mukul Chowdhury had lit up the stage. With a stunning one-man effort, he guided his team from the brink of defeat to a memorable victory, becoming an overnight hero among cricket fans. However, on Sunday afternoon, the script was very different. The young batter failed to deliver with the bat at home, and his team, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), walked off the field defeated as Gujarat Titans (GT) sealed the match, thanks to brilliant knocks from Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler.

Gujarat have not been in the best rhythm this season, while Lucknow too have struggled for consistency despite their dramatic win at Eden. That made Sunday’s clash crucial for both sides, led by Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill respectively. With playoff hopes on the line, two points from this game were vital. Winning the toss, Gill opted to field first—a decision that was soon justified by his bowlers, led by Prasidh Krishna.

Prasidh, already among the leading wicket-takers this season, dismantled Lucknow’s batting lineup with a superb four-wicket haul. He removed key players including Aiden Markram, Ayush Badoni, Nicholas Pooran, and the in-form Mukul Chowdhury. Gujarat’s pace attack dominated proceedings, leaving Lucknow’s batting in tatters. Apart from Markram’s 30, no batter managed to cross the 20-run mark. Pant scored 18. Lucknow were even forced to use their Impact Player early, eventually finishing at 164 in their allotted 20 overs.

In response, Gill came out all guns blazing during the powerplay. Even though Sai Sudharsan fell early, Gujarat’s scoring rate never dipped. Buttler joined Gill and the duo stitched together a crucial 84-run partnership. Gill scored a fluent 56 off 40 balls before getting out, while Buttler followed soon after with a brisk 60 off 37 deliveries, briefly putting Gujarat under pressure.

However, Washington Sundar (23*) and Rahul Tewatia (10*) steadied the chase with a composed 30-run partnership, guiding Gujarat Titans to a comfortable victory.
