IPL2026 : Mukul Chowdhury’s Heroics Sink KKR as LSG Script Stunning Comeback Win

Another match, another heartbreak. Kolkata Knight Riders have now played four games in this IPL season, yet victory continues to elude Ajinkya Rahane and his men. Despite a spirited fight at Eden Gardens on Thursday and the much-awaited return of Cameron Green with the ball, the end result remained unchanged—defeat. Following a hat-trick of losses, KKR now have just a solitary point to show.

Asked to bat first, KKR suffered an early setback. Finn Allen, who had dazzled fans with a blistering century in a World Cup semifinal, looked a pale shadow of himself in KKR colours, managing just 9 off 8 balls. The innings was then rebuilt with composure and intent by Rahane (41) , who found an able partner in the promising Angkrish Raghuvanshi(45) . Their solid 84-run partnership steadied the ship and laid a foundation.

However, the momentum slowed as Prince Yadav and company applied the brakes. Just when KKR risked losing their way, Rovman Powell injected late impetus with a brisk 39 off 24 balls. Green’s 32 off 24 may not have justified his hefty price tag, but it proved valuable in the match context. KKR eventually posted a competitive 181 at the end of 20 overs—though many fans feared it might not be enough.

Those fears seemed justified early in the chase as Aiden Markram led a blazing start, with 40 runs coming off the first four overs. Even after his dismissal, Ayush Badoni kept the momentum going with a fluent 54 off 34 balls, putting Lucknow Super Giants firmly in control.

KKR, however, clawed their way back dramatically. With Sunil Narine leading the charge, they picked up seven wickets and reignited hopes of an unlikely win as their key batters Pant & Pooran amongst others went cheaply . The momentum had decisively shifted, and KKR seemed poised to break their losing streak.

But in a cruel twist, one man turned the game on its head—Mukul Chowdhury. Delivering a breathtaking counterattack under pressure, he smashed an unbeaten 54 off just 27 balls, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat and scripting a sensational win for LSG.

For KKR, it was yet another night of frustration and missed opportunities.
