Olympics24: Veteran Simone Biles of USA gets 3rd gold in gymnastics

She came, she saw, she conquered. Simone Biles won her third gold at the Paris Olympics. After securing gold in the team event and the all-around final, the American gymnast clinched gold in the individual vault final as well. This brings her total Olympic gold medals to seven. She is on the path to becoming the greatest of all time.

Biles was the fourth competitor in the vault final. The three athletes who competed before her did not perform particularly well, boosting Biles' confidence. She scored 15.700 in her first vault, almost securing the gold. In her second vault, she scored 14.900, averaging 15.300, which was significantly higher than the others.

Biles' main competitors were her teammate Jade Carey and Brazil's Rebeca Andrade. Rebeca, the seventh competitor, scored 15.100 in her first vault and 14.833 in her second, averaging 14.966 to finish in second place. She had the highest vault score in the team competition and won silver here.

Carey was the last competitor. She scored 14.733 in her first vault and 14.200 in her second, averaging 14.466 to finish third. Alongside Biles' gold, Carey brought a bronze medal to the USA.
