Olympics24: Noah of USA win 100 mtrs dash in photo finish , Germany , Spain , Holland reach Hockey semis
Noah Lyles won the gold medal in the men's 100 meters at the Olympics, becoming the fastest man in the world. He completed the race in 9.79 seconds. On Sunday, the Stade de France in Paris witnessed the fastest human on the planet. Many can't recall the last time they saw such a race. Kishane Thompson, another gold contender, finished second in a photo finish, also clocking 9.79 seconds. To determine the winner, the time was divided into thousandths of a second, and Noah emerged victorious by 0.005 seconds. Fred Kerley from the USA won the bronze with a time of 9.81 seconds.
From 2008 to 2016, Jamaica, or more precisely Usain Bolt, dominated the Olympics, winning gold three consecutive times. Before the Tokyo Olympics, Bolt retired, and no Jamaican made it to the top three. However, there was hope for Kishane before the Paris Olympics, as he had the best time of the year. Oblique Seville also showed promise. Kishane lived up to his reputation in the first round and heats, and he almost won gold in the final but fell short.
After a long gap, the USA secured a gold medal in the 100 meters. The last American to win gold was Justin Gatlin in 2004. Noah Lyles is now the latest to achieve this feat. Since the Olympics began in 1896, the USA won gold in the 100 meters the first three times. The USA has 16 gold medals in this event, a record unmatched by any other country. Although Jamaica had overtaken them for a while, Noah Lyles has restored American dominance in the event.
Meanwhile in Hockey quarter finals Spain upset reigning Olympic champions Belgium 3-2 in a thriller to set up a semi final clash with Netherlands who beat fancied Australia 2-0 in another quarter final. Germany toppled spirited Argentina 3-2 in another thriller to set up a semi final clash with India who beat Great Britain in a tiebreaker in a match of controversy
