Olympics24 : China dominates TT with 5th consecutive title , France retain volleyball gold , some other event results
China successfully defended their Golds medal in the men’s table tennis team event with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Sweden at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. This marks their fifth title in the men’s team event, a competition they have dominated since its debut at the Olympic Games Beijing 2008.
Host nation France secured the Olympic TT bronze in the men’s event by defeating Japan 3-2.
In the women’s table tennis competition, China continued their dominance by winning their fifth consecutive gold medal with a 3-0 victory over Japan. This victory also marked China’s historic 300th Olympic gold medal. Japan took home the silver, while Korea Republic earned the bronze, their first medal in the team event since 2008.
In badminton, Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen successfully defended his men’s singles Olympic gold, defeating Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn in straight sets. Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia won the bronze after a three-set victory over India’s Lakshya Sen.
Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin of Chinese Taipei made history by becoming the first pair to win the men’s doubles title twice, after an intense 21-17, 18-21, 21-19 victory over the People’s Republic of China’s Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
South Korea's An Se-young solidified her status as the top player in women’s badminton by winning the Olympic title, defeating China’s He Bingjiao in the final in Paris.
In women’s water polo, Spain won their first-ever Olympic gold after outlasting Australia 11-9 at the La Défense Arena. Despite three late goals from Australia, Spain's 11-6 lead with 1:50 remaining was enough to secure victory. Australia took home the silver.
France made history by becoming the first men’s volleyball team to win back-to-back Olympic golds since the United States in 1984 and 1988. They defeated Poland 3-0 with scores of 25-19, 25-20, and 25-23. The United States claimed the bronze by defeating world champion Italy in straight sets.
Norway defeated France 29-21 to win the gold medal in women’s handball at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 on Saturday, August 10, at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium. This victory secured Norway’s fifth consecutive Olympic medal in this event and their first handball gold since London 2012. Henny Reistad led the gold medalists, scoring eight goals on 12 shots. Denmark defeated Sweden 30-25 to claim the bronze, marking Denmark’s first Olympic medal in women’s handball since winning gold at Athens 2004.
In men’s track cycling, Australia rode to victory in the team pursuit, clocking a time of 3:42.067 to claim the gold medal at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Velodrome. Great Britain took silver, while Italy won the bronze.
