Olympics24: Simone Biles wins 2nd Olympic gold in gymnastics in a great comeback bid.

Simone Biles wins her second gold at this Olympics. After securing gold in the team event, she also clinched gold in the individual event. At 27 years old, this American gymnast has demonstrated why she is the best. This marks Biles' ninth Olympic medal, placing her miles ahead of the competition.

Biles began the women's all-around artistic gymnastics event with the vault. This individual event consists of four rounds: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. Biles scored 15.766 in the vault, 13.733 in the uneven bars, and 14.466 on the balance beam. After three rounds, she was in the lead. Biles secured gold with her performance in the floor exercise.

In the final round, Biles faced competition from American gymnast Sunisa Lee, who had won gold alongside Biles in the team event. However, Lee finished in third place, settling for bronze. Biles scored 15.066 in the floor exercise, the highest of all competitors. Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade finished in second place, trailing Biles by 1.199 points. Biles ended 2.666 points ahead of her teammate Sunisa Lee, who came in third.

Eight years ago, at the Rio Olympics, Biles won four gold medals at just 19 years old, making her the youngest competitor on the team. At the Tokyo Olympics, despite facing mental health challenges, she still earned one silver and two bronze medals. In this Olympics, Biles aimed to reaffirm her dominance and prove that she is the greatest gymnast of all time. Following her gold medal win on Thursday, Biles wore a necklace with a goat pendant, symbolizing her status as the GOAT—Greatest of All Time—in gymnastics.
