Vadodara Man Shocked to Find Himself Part of Academic scam
A 25-year-old man from Ghayaj village in Vadodara was stunned to discover that he had unknowingly been enrolled in an engineering diploma program and even awarded a scholarship—without ever stepping foot on a college campus.
The man, who had recently cleared his Class 12 exams on a second attempt, had approached the social welfare department to apply for a scholarship for his actual studies—a Bachelor of Arts (BA) course. However, during the verification process, officials informed him that he was already listed as a student at an engineering college in Gandhinagar. Furthermore, records showed he had already received financial assistance for this alleged diploma program.
A deeper probe revealed that his Aadhaar number had been fraudulently used to enroll him in the engineering course. Shockingly, a bank account had also been opened in his name in Ahmedabad, where the scholarship funds were deposited.
This bizarre case has sparked outrage and humor on social media. While some criticized the apparent loopholes in the system, others sarcastically quipped about the "advanced education model" that allows students to graduate without attending classes.
One social media user on X remarked, “This reminds me of someone who claimed to have excelled in an ‘Entire Political Science’ course without attending a single class.”
The victim, however, remains in disbelief over how his identity was misused and is now grappling with the bureaucratic hurdles to clear his name. Authorities are investigating the matter to uncover the full extent of the scam.
