Murir Upma Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups puffed rice (muri)
1 onion (finely chopped)
1 tomato (finely chopped)
2–3 green chilies (finely chopped)
1 tsp mustard oil
½ tsp cumin seeds
7–8 curry leaves
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)
1 handful of peanuts (chopped)
2 tbsp oil
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
How to make
1. Prepare the Muri:
Sprinkle a little water over the puffed rice and gently mix to moisten. Ensure it doesn't become soggy.
2. Tempering:
Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and curry leaves, letting them splutter.
3. Cooking the Vegetables:
Add the chopped onions, tomatoes, and green chilies. Sauté well until the onions are soft and the tomatoes are mushy.
4. Seasoning:
Add salt and turmeric powder. Stir well and cook for a couple of minutes.
5. Add the Muri:
Gently fold the moistened puffed rice into the mixture. Mix evenly without breaking the puffed rice.
6. Final Touch:
Sprinkle lemon juice and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
7. Serve:
Serve hot Murir Upma as a light snack or breakfast.
