Ben Shelton also advanced, triumphing over Lorenzo Musetti in a closely contested 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 match.
In the women’s singles, Iga Swiatek put on a clinical display, overpowering Emma Raducanu with a decisive 6-1, 6-0 victory. Swiatek’s flawless baseline game left Raducanu with little opportunity to respond. Ons Jabeur faced a stern test from Elisabetta Navarro but emerged victorious, grinding out a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win. Madison Keys advanced with a confident 6-4, 6-4 victory against Danielle Collins, leveraging her powerful groundstrokes to control the match. Elina Svitolina also moved ahead, defeating Jasmine Paolini 6-2, 6-4.
Sixth seed Elena Rybakina overcame back spasms to secure a third-round victory against Dayana Yastremska, winning 6-3, 6-4. The former Australian Open finalist required a medical timeout after just three games to address her discomfort. Despite the setback, Rybakina adapted her game plan by shortening rallies and targeting aggressive winners. She now advances to the second week of the tournament for the first time since her 2023 runner-up finish, where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka. Rybakina credited her physio for keeping her in contention and hopes for some "magic" to carry her further in the competition.
