WPL25 : Rana shines as RCB beat MI , help DC to reach finals

In the Women's Premier League, an inspired bowling spell by the player of the match  Sneh Rana helped  Royal Challengers Bangalore to beat fancied Mumbai Indians. Batting first on Tuesday, RCB put up a formidable 199/3. In response, Mumbai Indians managed 188/9, falling short by 11 runs. With Mumbai’s loss, Delhi Capitals secured a direct spot in the final. Both teams finished with 10 points from eight matches, but Delhi topped the table due to a superior net run rate. Meanwhile, Gujarat Giants, with eight points, secured the second eliminator spot and will now face Mumbai Indians in the dreaded Eliminator.

Bangalore's batting lineup delivered an aggressive performance. Skipper Smriti Mandhana led from the front with a sparkling  53-run knock off 37 balls, hitting six fours and three sublime  sixes. Her opening partner, Sabbhineni Meghana, contributed a breathtaking 26 off 13 balls, striking four boundaries and a six. At No. 3, Ellyse Perry remained unbeaten on 49 off 38 balls, smashing five fours and a six. Richa Ghosh added a quickfire 36 off 22 balls with five fours and a six. Georgia Wareham played a crucial late cameo, remaining unbeaten on 31 off just 10 balls, hitting five boundaries and a six.  The normally effective Mumbai bowlers leaked a lot of runs in the slog overs and their fielders shelled a few tough but possible  catches .

Mumbai's bowlers struggled to make an impact on the batting-friendly Brabourne Stadium pitch. Hayley Matthews was the pick of the bowlers with 2/37, while Amelia Kerr took 1/47.

In the chase, Mumbai fought hard but couldn’t cross the finish line. Nat Sciver-Brunt top-scored with a blistering 69 off 35 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes. However, she received little support from the other end. Harmanpreet Kaur managed 20 off 18 balls, Amanjot made 17  while Sajeevan Sajana played a short but aggressive knock of 23 off 12 balls, striking one four and two sixes and almost delivered a scare to the RCB fanbase in the final over bowled by Ellyse Perry  .

Among Bangalore’s bowlers, Sneh Rana was the most successful, taking 3/26. Kim Garth picked up 2/33, while Perry also grabbed 2/53. Heather Graham and Wareham chipped in with a wicket each.

Despite this victory, defending champions Bangalore finished fourth on the points table and were already eliminated.
