IPL2025: Head, Kishan powers SRH to convincing win over Rajasthan in 1st game
The Orange Army roars again !! Sunrisers Hyderabad brought out all their batting prowess to outscore Rajasthan Royals in a runfest at Hyderabad in an entertainment game of T20 cricket that saw audacious strokeplay from both teams . Put in to bat SRH rode on the brilliance of Travis Head and Ishan Kishan to pile on 286/6 and in reply the Rajasthan Royals put up a spirited chase after losing early wickets but fell short by 44 runs .
Losing the toss and batting first Sunrisers started in typical rollicking fashion with Abhishek Sharma & Travis Head attacking the opposition bowling in the powerplay . After an opening stand of 45 in just 3 overs Abhishek departed for a quickfire 24 which brought debutant Ishan Kishan to bat with Head .
Head - Kishan lauched a fierce onslaught on the Royals bowling . They added 85 in just 7 overs with breathtaking strokes. Head smashed Jofra Archer for 23 in an over while Kishan tore apart the Royals bowling with spectacular strokes all around the ground . After Head was dismissed by Despande for 67 off 31 balls , first Nitish Reddy (30) and then Klaasen(34) smashed around the bowling along with Kishan to raise hopes of a possible 300 score but at the end the SRH fell short by 14 runs as they set a target of 287 . Ishan Kishan finally reached his brilliant hundred to remain not out on 106 off just 47 balls with 11 fours and 6 sixes . It was an innings to remember for the sheer audacity of his strokeplay. Royals bowling leaked runs in dozens. Despande took 3 wickets .
In reply Rajasthan Royals lost early wickets in their quest of chasing the huge target. Simarjeet Singh bowled with pace and fire to dismiss Jaiswal (1) - caught brilliantly at point off a cut shot and Parag (4) caught off a mistimed pull , done by pace . Shami dismissed Nitish Rana (11) as Royals slumped to 50/3 .
Samson who played as an impact batter & opened , was playing dazzling shots and after the early setbacks had a great century partnership with Dhruv Jurel of 111 runs as both played spectacular shots to raise slim hopes of an unlikely win . Samson after a dazzling 66 in 37 balls . Dhruv Jurel soon followed after a breathtaking knock of 70 off 35 balls. Royals continued to smash runs with Heytmer (42) and Shubham Dubey (34*) playing enterprising knocks . Undaunted by the huge target the Royals batters performed admirably with the bat and instead of throwing the wickets away kept batting deep to end at 242/6 and lost by 44 runs instead of a much bigger margin which looked likely during their powerplay . Simarjeet and Harshal Patel took 2 wickets each in a high scoring game at Hyderabad. Ishan Kishan for his excellent hundred was the player of the match.
