Yoga: Ushtrasana (Camel Pose)- how to perform this excercise

Ushtrasana, also known as Camel Pose, is a deep backbend that improves flexibility and strength in the spine. It is a vital posture in yoga, often used to open the chest and stretch the front of the body. The name "Ushtrasana" comes from Sanskrit, where "Ushtra" means camel and "Asana" means pose.

How to Perform Ushtrasana

  1. Starting Position: Kneel on the yoga mat with your knees hip-width apart and thighs perpendicular to the floor.
  2. Hand Placement: Place your hands on your lower back, fingers pointing downward for support.
  3. Arching Back: Inhale and slowly arch your back, pushing the hips forward and lifting the chest upward.
  4. Reaching for Heels: Exhale and gently place your hands on your heels, keeping your fingers pointing toward the toes. If this is difficult, keep your hands on your lower back.
  5. Neck Position: Let your head drop backward naturally, avoiding excessive strain.
  6. Hold the Pose: Maintain the posture for 20-30 seconds while breathing deeply.
  7. Returning to Normal Position: Inhale and bring your hands back to your lower back. Slowly straighten the spine and sit on your heels to relax.
