IPL2025 : Mumbai Indians crush Rajasthan Royals to reach top of points table

Stopping Mumbai Indians now seems not just difficult but nearly impossible. The team had a poor start to the season, but they’ve now won six matches in a row. Their latest performance came against Rajasthan Royals, whom they thrashed by a massive margin of 100 runs. Batting first, Mumbai put up a formidable total of 217 runs. In response, Rajasthan couldn’t even play out the full 20 overs, let alone chase the target. After a dominant batting display, Mumbai’s bowling unit completely dismantled the Rajasthan lineup.

Although Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to field first, Mumbai took control of the game in all departments. Openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton set the tone with a fiery 116-run partnership for the first wicket. Rickelton scored 61 off just 38 balls, while Rohit contributed 53 off 36. Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya continued the onslaught, each scoring quickfire 48 runs off 23 balls.

Rajasthan had hoped to replicate their batting success against Gujarat Titans, but that ambition was crushed by the lethal bowling of Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah. Deepak Chahar struck first, dismissing Vaibhav Suryavanshi for a duck. Boult then removed Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana in quick succession. Bumrah followed up by getting rid of Rajasthan skipper Riyan Parag and then dismissed Shimron Hetmyer on the very next ball.

By the end of the powerplay, Rajasthan had lost five wickets, and their troubles only deepened. Hardik Pandya removed Shubham Dubey, effectively ending any remaining hopes. Leg-spinner Karn Sharma cleaned up the tail by dismissing Dhruv Jurel for 11, followed by Maheesh Theekshana and Kumar Kartikeya. Boult then returned to take the final wicket of Jofra Archer, bundling Rajasthan out for just 117.

With this crushing defeat, Rajasthan Royals are officially out of IPL 2025, while Mumbai Indians move one step closer to securing a playoff spot.
