Ipl 2025 : Gujarat Titans Bounce Back Strong, Crush Sunrisers Hyderabad by 38 Runs
After a recent defeat, Gujarat Titans made a remarkable comeback with a dominant 38-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, Gujarat registered their seventh win of the IPL 2025 season and climbed to second place on the points table. The match, played in Ahmedabad, saw the Titans post a mammoth total of 224 runs in their 20 overs, thanks to explosive half-centuries from Gill and Jos Buttler. Later, a brilliant spell from Prasidh Krishna helped restrict Hyderabad to just 186 runs.
Batting first, Gujarat got off to a blazing start with yet another strong opening stand from Shubman Gill (76) and Sai Sudharsan (48), who added 82 runs in the powerplay itself. Sudharsan was particularly aggressive, smashing five boundaries in a single over from Mohammed Shami. While he narrowly missed a half-century, Gill continued his fine form, notching up his third consecutive fifty in just 25 balls. However, for the third time in a row, Gill fell short of a century. After his dismissal, Jos Buttler (64) took charge and added another fluent fifty to his tally this season. Their combined efforts powered Gujarat to a daunting total of 224.
In response, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head (20) tried to give Sunrisers a quick start, but once again the Australian opener failed to convert it into a big score. He was dismissed by Prasidh Krishna in the fifth over. Ishan Kishan (13) also disappointed with the bat. However, Abhishek Sharma kept the momentum going with a blistering knock, crossing the 50-run mark for only the second time this season.
Sunrisers' hopes took a major hit when Abhishek (74) fell in the 15th over, followed shortly by Heinrich Klaasen (23) in the next. These quick wickets derailed their chase, and the team eventually managed only 180 runs in 20 overs. For Gujarat, Prasidh Krishna once again stood out with figures of 2/19, stifling the scoring in the middle overs and picking up key wickets.
With this heavy defeat, Sunrisers Hyderabad are now on the brink of elimination from the tournament, while Gujarat Titans have claimed the top spot on the table.
