Greece shock England, Belgium hold Italy, France win in latest rounds of UEFA nations league

Greece secured a historic victory against England, continuing their perfect run in the current UEFA Nations League. Vangelis Pavlidis netted twice, with the team dedicating their first-ever goal at Wembley to the late George Baldock, a Greek international who tragically passed away at 31 just days before the match. A touching tribute followed, with a minute’s silence and Pavlidis, the first Greek to score at Wembley, showing a black armband. The team further honored Baldock by lifting his number two shirt in celebration.

The game saw Greece take the lead early in the second half when Pavlidis broke through England’s defense and calmly finished past Jordan Pickford. Despite Jude Bellingham’s late equalizer for England, Pavlidis struck again in the 94th minute to seal the win, securing all three points and placing Greece at the top of their group.

In other UEFA Nations League action, France narrowed the gap with Italy in Group A2, achieving a 4-1 win. Despite Kylian Mbappe’s absence, Aurelien Tchouameni led the team as captain, while Eduardo Camavinga opened the scoring within seven minutes, capitalizing on a mistake by Israeli goalkeeper Omri Glazer. Though Israel's Omri Gandelman equalized, France quickly regained the lead through Christopher Nkunku. Later goals from Matteo Guendouzi and Bradley Barcola solidified France’s commanding win.

Meanwhile, Belgium fought back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against Italy in Rome. Italy started brilliantly, with Andrea Cambiaso scoring within the first minute and Mateo Retegui adding a second. However, a red card for Lorenzo Pellegrini shifted momentum, allowing Belgium to equalize through Maxim De Cuyper and Leandro Trossard, leaving both teams with a point.
