Spin twins take Pakistan to memorable 2-1 test series win over fancied England
Spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan led Pakistan to a dominant nine-wicket win over England in the deciding third Test, clinching a 2-1 series victory on Saturday.
Noman (6-42) and Sajid (4-69) dismantled England's batting lineup, dismissing them for just 112 in their second innings and leaving Pakistan with only 36 runs to chase. Despite losing Saim Ayub early, Pakistan secured the win on the third day. Captain Shan Masood struck four consecutive boundaries off Jack Leach and sealed the victory with a six off Shoaib Bashir in the following over.
The spinners took 19 of the 20 English wickets, with Pakistan's sole seamer, Aamer Jamal, unused in the match, underscoring the spin-friendly conditions. Over the final two matches, Noman and Sajid captured 39 of England's 40 wickets since joining the series mid-way. Starting the day at 24-3, England’s batters fell in quick succession, with only Joe Root (33) offering some resistance before also falling to Noman.
England’s struggles were epitomized by captain Ben Stokes, who was trapped lbw by Noman while shouldering arms. This victory marked Pakistan's first home Test series win in three years, with their previous success coming in a 2-0 win over South Africa.
