Nauman, Sajid equal history as Pakistan trounce England in 2nd test to level the series
Nauman Ali's remarkable eight-wicket haul led Pakistan to a comprehensive 152-run victory over England in the second Test match in Multan, tying the three-match series at 1-1.
England, chasing 297 on a spin-friendly pitch at the Multan Cricket Stadium, were bowled out for just 144 during the morning session on the fourth day. Noman was the standout performer, recording impressive figures of 8-46. Between Nauman and fellow spinner Sajid Khan, Pakistan's spinners claimed all 20 wickets in the match—a rare achievement in Test cricket, marking only the seventh time this has happened, and the first in over five decades.
England, resuming their innings on 36-2, faced an uphill battle from the start, requiring a tremendous batting effort to chase down the target. However, their struggles continued as vice-captain Ollie Pope (22) was dismissed early, caught and bowled by Sajid Khan. Nauman then took control of the game, sending England's top order into disarray.
One of the key moments came when Noman trapped Joe Root lbw for 18, a decision Root unsuccessfully reviewed. Harry Brook followed soon after, also falling to Noman, as England collapsed to 88-6 with Jamie Smith's dismissal adding to their woes.
Captain Ben Stokes, known for his game-changing performances, was England's last hope for a revival. Batting aggressively, Stokes attempted a bold stroke against Noman but ended up losing his bat mid-shot. With Stokes stranded outside his crease, wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan easily collected the ball and completed the stumping.
England's lower order offered little resistance, and Pakistan sealed the victory in dominant fashion. After enduring several challenges throughout the last few weeks including an unexpected 2-0 test series whitewash to Bangladesh at home , this win was a much-needed boost for Pakistan as they drew level with one Test remaining.
