WT20I WC : Australia blow away New Zealand, Schultz, Sutherland dominant

In the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, Australia continued their winning streak with a second consecutive victory. After winning the toss against New Zealand and opting to bat first, Australia posted a score of 148/8, thanks to Beth Mooney's 40 and Ellyse Perry's 30 runs. New Zealand's batting crumbled under the pressure of Annabel Sutherland and Megan Schutt’s bowling, with the team being all out for just 88 runs.

Both teams had won their previous matches, and a close contest was anticipated. After opting to bat first, Australia got off to a decent start but struggled to capitalize, losing wickets at regular intervals with Kiwi star player Amelia Kerr turning out to be the chief destroyer with 4 wickets with her leg spin googly  . Aside from the top three batters—captain Alyssa Healy, Beth Mooney, and Ellyse Perry—no one else made a significant contribution. Mooney top-scored with 40, while Perry made 30, and Healy added 26. The team finished with 148/8.

New Zealand lost their first wicket at 7 runs while chasing the target. Suzie Bates and Amelia Kerr (29) tried to stabilize the innings, taking the score to 54. However, Bates’ dismissal at this score triggered a collapse, and New Zealand lost three more quick wickets. At 60/6, Australia had taken firm control of the match, and New Zealand was eventually bowled out for just 88 runs.

Skipper Sophie Devine ,who was the  star vs India , was choked by the Aussie bowlers with just 7 runs coming from her bat. With her ability to do power hitting , the one time opener for the white ferns needed to open today .

Annabel Sutherland and Megan Schutt played key roles in Australia’s victory, taking three wickets each. Schutt claimed 3 wickets for 3 runs, while Sutherland picked up 3 wickets for 21 runs, sealing an absolute dominant win for Australia as they head the points table in their group .
