South Africa hammer Bangladesh by an innings to with Test series 2-0
After a truimphant away series win over Pakistan , Bangladesh could not maintain their encouraging good show in test cricket and proceeded to lose back to back test series 2-0 whitewash to India & South Africa , the latest one being at at home .
The major reason for losing test series vs India and then vs South Africa at home was due to pathetic performance by their batting lineup that included some senior stars . There appeared to be no spine as their batting succumbed to one collapse after another with only one or two batters showing up per innings
South Africa clinched victory in the second Test in Chattogram, winning by an innings and 273 runs which will help them to advance greatly in the WTC points table .
Batting first South Africa piled on a mammoth 575/6 declared helped by 3 centuries . After Aiden Markram departed for 33 , Toni de Zorzi & Tristan Stubbs set up the match for the tourists with a manmoth 201 run stand as they played the Bangladesh spinners with great confidence , sweeping , reverse sweeping & stepping out to hit down the ground . Zorzi (177) & Stubbs (106) scored impressive 100s after which Wian Moulder (105*) hit a powerful century full of explosive shots . Bedingham(59) & Mutusamy (68*) contrubuted with 50s while Taijul took 5 wickets for the hosts .
On the third day of the second Test, Bangladesh lost 16 wickets. In the first innings, Bangladesh was bowled out for just 159 runs, with Mominul Haque scoring 82 and Taijul Islam adding 30 runs. No other players made significant contributions. For South Africa, Kagiso Rabada claimed 5 wickets, while Dane Paterson and Keshav Maharaj took 2 each, and Senuran Muthusamy took 1 wicket.
South Africa enforced the follow-on, and Bangladesh's batting did not improve in the second innings. While they managed to score over 150 in the first innings, they couldn’t even reach that in the second, being bowled out for 143 runs. Bangladesh lost 16 wickets in a single day.
In the second innings, Hasan Mahmud, who batted at number 10, was Bangladesh's top scorer with 38 runs. Without his contribution, they might not have even reached 125 runs. South Africa’s spin duo made a strong impact in the second innings, with Maharaj taking 5 wickets and Muthusamy claiming 4, while Paterson took 1 wicket.
