1983 Cricket World Cup Hero: Amarnath was the Man of the Match in both the semi-final and the final of the 1983 World Cup, playing key roles with both bat and ball. He scored crucial runs and took important wickets to help India lift its first-ever World Cup trophy.

Top Test performances abroad: Amarnath was in imperious form during 1982-83 , particularly in the 1982-83 series against Pakistan ( Scored 584 runs at 73 avg in 6 tests)  and 1983-84 series in the West Indies ( scored 598 runs at 66 avg in 5 tests) , where he stood tall against the world’s fiercest fast bowlers.

Only cricketer to be dismissed on both the first and last ball of a Test match.

His 11 Test centuries came mostly in tough overseas conditions, earning him the reputation of a ‘man for a crisis.’

Padma Bhushan Award: In recognition of his services to Indian cricket, Amarnath was honored with the Padma Bhushan.
