French Open Final Repeats at Wimbledon: Alcaraz vs Sinner for Grass Court Glory

The 2025 Wimbledon final is set to be a thrilling repeat of this year’s French Open final, as Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner prepare to clash once again—this time on grass. Alcaraz had already secured his spot in the championship match, and now Sinner has joined him after a commanding straight-sets win over Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. While Alcaraz was tested by Taylor Fritz, Sinner cruised past Djokovic with a dominant 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Djokovic stepped onto Centre Court clearly hampered by injury—still struggling from a fall in the quarterfinals. It was evident from the outset that the Serbian legend wasn’t at his best. Sinner, who had lost all four of his previous meetings with Djokovic, finally turned the tables and swept aside the seven-time Wimbledon champion in straight sets. Apart from Rafael Nadal, Sinner is now the only player to beat Djokovic five times.

Djokovic even slipped again during the match, while Sinner dominated the baseline rallies. After breaking Djokovic with a run of four consecutive points in the first set, Sinner clinched it 6-3. He then surged to a 3-1 lead in the second and never looked back. Though he missed a few set points, he maintained composure. Even when Djokovic led 3-0 in the third, Sinner reeled him back in and sealed the match convincingly.

This will be Sinner’s first Wimbledon final. Waiting on the other side is a familiar opponent—Carlos Alcaraz. In the French Open final, Sinner had taken the lead but couldn’t close it out, as Alcaraz fought back to take the title. Will Sunday be Sinner’s chance at redemption and his first Wimbledon crown? Or will Alcaraz complete a rare hat-trick and win his third consecutive title on grass?

Carlos Alcaraz reached the final with an authoritative win over American Taylor Fritz in four sets: 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6). The Spanish star dropped just one set in the semifinal and now stands one win away from joining an elite group of five men who have won Wimbledon three times in a row.

With 24 consecutive match wins at Wimbledon, Alcaraz is in red-hot form. Though the semifinal stretched to 2 hours and 49 minutes, he was never truly in danger. He dropped the second set 5-7 and had to fight through a tense tiebreak in the fourth, but in both cases, he kept his composure. The third set saw Alcaraz unload a barrage of blistering groundstrokes that left Fritz struggling to keep up. In the tiebreaker, Alcaraz held his nerve, saving set points and closing out the match with clinical precision.

As the stage is set for Sunday’s grand finale, tennis fans await a classic. Will it be Sinner’s redemption or Alcaraz’s coronation once more on grass?
