Wimbledon '25: Djokovic, Sinner races through to next round, Swaitek, Rybakina wins

Novak Djokovic cruised into the third round of Wimbledon as expected, while 11th seed Alex de Minaur also secured his place with a second-round victory. In the women’s singles draw, 8th seed Iga Świątek, 7th seed Mirra Andreeva, 10th seed Emma Navarro, and 11th seed Elena Rybakina all advanced to the third round.

Top seed Jannik Sinner continued his imperious form with another effortless 6-1 , 6-1 , 6-3 straight sets demolition of Alexandar Vucik to sail through to next round .

Despite a tournament filled with early upsets and the elimination of several seeded players in the first three days, none of that seemed to affect the 24-time Grand Slam champion. Djokovic faced little resistance from Britain’s unseeded Dan Evans, defeating him in straight sets — 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 — in just 1 hour and 47 minutes. As the match progressed, the former world No. 1 grew more dominant. With this win, Djokovic also set a new record — becoming the first player in the Open Era to reach the Wimbledon third round 19 times. It was also his 99th match win at the prestigious tournament.

In the women’s singles, former world No. 1 Iga Świątek also moved forward, though not without a fight. She overcame unseeded American Katie McNally 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. Świątek dropped the first set after a tightly contested 59-minute battle but rebounded strongly to close out the match in 2 hours and 25 minutes.

Among the other seeded winners on Thursday was Australia’s Alex de Minaur, the 11th seed in men’s singles, who defeated France’s Arthur Cazaux 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-0 in a match lasting 2 hours and 48 minutes. In the women’s draw, 7th seed Mirra Andreeva beat Italy’s Lucia Bronzetti 6-1, 7-6 (7-4). Tenth seed Emma Navarro cruised past Veronika Kudermetova 6-1, 6-2 in just 1 hour and 14 minutes. Eleventh seed Elena Rybakina also advanced comfortably, dismissing Greece’s Maria Sakkari 6-3, 6-1 in only 1 hour and 2 minutes showcasing her powerful serves & strokeplay .
